TSSAA Football: 2019 Division II

Basic Information

In most regions, each row represents a team, and each column a place. The content of the box indicates how the team can earn that place or any higher place. In particular, the symbol ▼ indicates that the team cannot get that place, while ☆ indicates a clinched place.

In a few regions, all places are either clinched or to be directly played for (that is, two teams play for a place, with the loser to finish one place lower). For these, all teams are in the second row, directly below their places.

Playoff Formats

• Class A: Six teams from each region qualify, the top two with byes to the quarterfinals. Each half includes even teams from one region and odd teams from the other; thus, teams play East v. West from the first round.
• Class AA: Five teams per region qualify, plus the #6 team from the West (in even years, the East #6 qualifies instead). All Eastern teams are placed in the top half and all Western teams in the bottom half; each half is filled out with teams from the Middle Region.
• Class AAA: As Class A, but only four teams qualify per region, all starting in the quarterfinals and crossing over immediately.

Tiebreakers

1. Head-to-head (applies only to a team beating all others in the tie)
2. Overall wins.
3. First-tier opponents (defined as Wins ≥ Losses, i. e. .500 or better) played.
4. First-tier opponents defeated.
5. Total opponents’ wins.
6. Total opponents’ losses (fewer is better).
7. Random selection.

One team at a time is selected; all others then begin again at the top.

By the same token, if (for example) two teams remain tied after a step that eliminates a third team, those two restart at step 1.
